Our families interest in glass started when Darren found employment at a local glass shop. After learning the basics about glass, he soon discovered a love for it's diversity and a niche for creating things with it,12 years later he's still creating unique pieces, some seen throughout site.
After much experimentation and family input, we feel we have perfected the extraordinary edges and unusual form and shape that make our glassart unique.
How does he do it?
I'm asked all the time, and I'm not allowed to give away certain secrets, but I will tell you that Darren has made his own tools to receive the results he wants. All our tools are hand tools (sanders,polishers,felt wheels) except the upright grinder.
Darren first chips the glass, smooths it on grinder, polishes edge, fuses pieces together and then decides what design (which are hand drawn).It's not just edgework that make the pieces one of a kind and unique, they are created from recycling of scraps and excess glass and mirror used on other jobs,so no glass is ever wasted here.
